2011
The inaugural edition of the Italian Football Hall of Fame was hosted inside the Salone dei 500 at Florence’s Palazzo Vecchio.
The shining lights of the Italian game who were named as members of the 2011 Hall of Fame were: Roberto Baggio in the Italian Player category, Pierluigi Collina in the Italian Referee category, Adriano Galliani in the Italian Director category, Marcello Lippi in the Italian Coach category, Michel Platini in the Foreign Player category, Gigi Riva in the Italian Veteran category and Arrigo Sacchi in the Italian Coach category.
The seven legends who made history will donate pieces of memorabilia from their careers to the Museo del Calcio which will make up the 2011 Wall of Fame at the museum.
Eleven figures were also recognised with posthumous awards so they could take their rightful places in history among the greats of the game.
