The FIGC's condolances for the passing of Comunardo Niccolai

The FIGC and president Gabriele Gravina join in mourning for the passing of Comunardo Niccolai. A defender, he was part of Cagliari's title-winning side in 1970; in the same year, he also went to the 1970 World Cup, held in Mexico, with the national team, starting the game against Sweden. In total, the defender, born in Uzzano in the province of Pistoia, and where passed away at the age of 77, he collected three caps for Italy, but also went on to have a career as an observer, a selector for the national youth teams and, between 1993 and 1995, the head coach of the women's national team.
