The Extraordinary Assembly's regulations for amending the Statute have been approved

Just over a month ahead of the Extraordinary Assembly for the amendment of the Statute, scheduled for 4 November, the Federal Council, in today’s meeting, approved the regulations. The articles concerning the adjustment of quorum requirements as per CONI’s principles, the rules for submitting amendments to the Statute, the voting order, and the adaptation of the deliberative majority to the new CONI regulations and the current Federal Statute were modified.

"By approving the regulations that will govern its organisation and management, we have begun the process leading up to the Extraordinary Assembly", said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina in the customary press conference following the Council meeting. "We’ve pencilled in 28 or 29 October for the Council meeting that will produce the federal proposal to be presented at the Assembly. Meanwhile, on 11 October, the first operational meeting between the presidents of the components will take place", he announced.

The new formulation of the Agents’ Regulations was also approved. The provisions that had been suspended by FIFA, such as the rules regarding linked agents and the prohibition of providing services to multiple clients in the same transaction, the ban on triple representation, and the rules on commission caps, were removed. "This will provide greater stability to an important category in the Italian football landscape", Gravina emphasised.

The Council also decided to issue a call for expressions of interest to fill the seven positions in the newly established Safeguarding Commission, which aims to prevent and combat abuse, violence, and discrimination against registered members.

Expression of Interest for UEFA Women's Euro 2029: President Gravina opened the session by informing the Council that on 24 September, the FIGC submitted its expression of interest to UEFA to host the 2029 Women’s European Championship. The Federation's goal is to strengthen the development of Italian women's football by organising a major event like the European Championship, involving cities and stadiums that were not included in the bid for the 2032 Men’s Euros.

"Strategically", explained the federal president, "we believe this is an important stepping stone towards the 2032 European Championship to refine our organisational capacity as a nation. In addition to consolidating the growth of women's football in Italy, we also see this as a gesture of respect for the many facilities that have been improved but are unlikely to participate in EURO 2032, yet could be involved in a similarly significant event like the 2029 Women's Euros. Hosting both European Championships would be a great source of pride, although we are aware that the road is long and that other important federations have also expressed their interest".
