Marking the 'Day of Remembrance', the FIGC remembers the victims of the Holocaust with a communication campaign on its social channels, reaffirming the football movement's commitment against all forms of racial discrimination.
"The Day of Remembrance must also be a day of responsibility," said FIGC president Gabriele Gravina, "especially for the world of football, which, with its different components and in its many dimensions, is committed every day to upholding the values of respect, brotherhood and inclusion. We take to the field to cultivate memory, so that the horror of discrimination and anti-Semitism no longer finds its way into our society, starting from the stadiums”.
"We say enough to the chants, enough to the display of racist symbols and enough to offences that humiliate human dignity,'' Gravina continued. ''Mine is a heartfelt appeal to all the institutions and clubs, which must be in the front line to counter these phenomena, but also to the majority of decent supporters, who must begin to dissociate themselves when such regrettable events occur. As FIGC, we are engaged in a complex process of cultural renewal, putting education and training at the centre of our message, starting from football schools. To make the most of this process, it is my intention to share further paths with representatives of the Jewish Community'.
