FIGC’s condolences upon the passing of Luisito Suarez

FIGC are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Luisito Suarez at the age of 88 and would like to extend their deepest condolences to Inter and his family. A legend of the 'Grande Inter' side, Suarez came to Italy after a spell at Barcelona. He was at Inter from 1961 to 1970 (333 appearances, 55 goals, three Scudetti, two European Cups and two Intercontinental Cups) and also had a stint at Sampdoria.

As a coach, he took Spain U21 to the European title in 1986 following a victory over Italy in the final. Born in A Coruña (Spain), he coached Inter, Cagliari, SPAL and Como in Italy. “A legend of Italian and world football has left us,” said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. “He gave pearls of joy to fans everywhere, inspiring generations of players and supporters.”
