Coverciano lights up red for fight on Violence against Women Day
Among the many initiatives in Italian football on International Day for the Elimination of Violence on Women, the CTF also remembered victims of feminicideSaturday, November 25, 2023
The Auditorium at the CTF in Coverciano lit up red this weekend in memory of victims to feminicide, a further signal in FIGC's support in honouring the International Day for the Elimination of Violence on Women.
Over the course of the day, this weekend, many initiatives took place across Italian football in memory of Giulia Cecchettin and all the victims of feminicide: the FIGC asked for a long round of applause to take place before every fixture, from Serie A to junior games, in order that players, technical staff, managers, referees and fans in the stands shared a moment together to give tribute to the victims of this tragedy. On social media and websites, the Azzurre and Azzurri, together with the two head coaches, Luciano Spalletti and Andrea Soncin, were involved in the 1522 campaign, the telephone number activated by the Presidency of the Council of Ministry Department for Equal Opportunities, with the aim of developing a wide system to tackle this phenomenom of violence against women within and outside of the family: “There are tactics to write history. And others that change it”.
