There are lots of changes in the latest Women's FIFA World Rankings, with Sweden now sitting at the top of the list for the first time in their history, ahead of new World Cup champions Spain (+4 positions) and the USA, who drop to third, paying the price for being eliminated in the round of 16. Italy's elimination in the group stages means they move down a spot to 17th; it is the Azzurre's lowest position over the last 20 years, which saw them in the same place already in 2017 and at the end of 2022. In the top 10, there are steps up for the Netherlands (7th, +2) and Japan (8th, +3), while Germany (6th, -4), Brazil (9th, -1) and Canada (10th, -3) all lose positions. The next FIFA Ranking standings will be published on 15 December.
