Following the second phase of the training camp, with a friendly match against Inter men's Under-15 side, it is exactly one month now until Italy take on France in their first game of the European Championships. Coach Milena Bertolini has today announced her squad for this third phase of preparations, at the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano; the camp will last from Sunday 12 to Friday 17 June. 30 players will meet up on Sunday evening by 23:00 CEST and will start their training programme the following day.
“I am looking at a very motivated group” announced coach Bertolini to RaiSport today. “They look really hungry when they’re out on the pitch, and it’s this that’ll make the difference. I’m really happy with the group, which bodes well from a technical and tactical standpoint. The 23 that I’ll select for the European Championships will need to support the group in various ways. It will be easier for those starting, as the rest must always be ready to be called upon and we rely on their team spirit so that we can achieve this common goal. It must be said that everyone is performing well at the moment and so I’ve got quite a few selection headaches”. Following this instalment of the international camp, the selected team will undergo their final preparations in Castel di Sangro, where they will train from 20 June until 1 July, when they will play Spain (17:00 CEST, live on Rai Sport + HD). The team will then travel to England on 4 July.
