Following the decision taken by the Executive Committee last July, UEFA has announced that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system will be used, with FIFA's consent, in all remaining matches in the European Qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The system will be operational from matchday four and will be used in all remaining matches from September 2021 onwards. Italy, first in Group C with nine points after the first three matches, will be back on the field for the Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers on 2 September in Florence against Bulgaria, before visiting Switzerland on 5 September and hosting Lithuania on 8 September in Reggio Emilia.
