Just a week remains before the Women's National Team are back in action to resume their qualifying campaign towards EURO 2025, with a double header against Norway. On Friday 31 May (18:15, live on Rai 2) the Azzurre will be at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, and on Tuesday 4 June (18:15 CEST, Rai 2) at the Paolo Mazza in Ferrara, where Italy have never lost. After the first two games, in which Andrea Soncin's team beat the Netherlands and lose in Finland, League A Group 1 ranking sees all four sides equal on 3 points.
It will be essential to start off on the right foot: a four-day training camp ended today in Tirrenia and the players called up for the next two matches - including those of Roma and Fiorentina, playing tonight at 21:30 CEST in the Frecciarossa Coppa Italia final - will meet back up again at the CTO (Olympic Training Center) to resume training ON Sunday.
For the 180 minutes against the Scandinavians, the head coach has decided to call up 33 players: in addition to the return of Michela Catena, Benedetta Glionna, Maria Luisa Filangeri and Annamaria Serturini, who had missed the last camp, the main news concerns the return of Matilde Pavan to the group, back playing almost a year on after a cruciate ligament injury to her right knee. This is the second call up to the senior national team for the 19-year-old Inter midfielder, who made her debut in April 2023 in the friendly against Colombia.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS. The record against the Norwegians is not the best, only two victories and two draws in 16 matches played, with no wins for the Azzurre so far in Norway and Italy: the two successes came in Sweden (Lillestrøm) at the 1997 European Championship and in Portugal (Faro) in the last match staged in the 2022 Algarve Cup, which ended 2-1 thanks to goals from Valentina Giacinti and Arianna Caruso. The situation regarding the Paolo Mazza stadium in Ferrara is completely different, though, where Italy are unbeaten, totalling five wins and a draw.
KOMEN ITALIA. The collaboration between FIGC and Komen Italia also continues in Ferrara: on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 June (from 09:00 to 15:00 CEST) the mobile units of the Prevention Caravan will be at Parco Coletta (Coletta Park) in Viale Costituzione to offer specialist visits for the prevention of breast cancer reserved for women without regional screening (for info and reservations consult the website komen.it).
TICKET OFFICES. Tickets for the match against Norway are on sale at authorised Vivaticket agencies and on the websites figc.vivaticket.it and vivaticket.com.. Tickets cost €14 in the Tribuna Sud (€1 for Under 12s), while the Gradinata Nord costs €5 (€1 for Under 18s and Over 65s).
