Italy U20s’ Elite League campaign finished with a 3-0 victory away to Türkiye at Pendik Stadyumu in Istanbul. The Azzurrini, who won the last three tournaments, have temporarily moved up to second place with 13 points, one behind table-toppers England (who play Portugal tomorrow).
Italy took a 34th-minute lead through Inter midfielder Thomas Berenbruch. In the second half, Fiorentina attacker Maat Daniel Caprini (50’) and Monza talent Kevin Zeroli (91’) also found the net.
“We must commend these lads because they went into this game after a long journey and only one training session, and that was in the snow,” said Head Coach Bernardo Corradi. “It wasn’t easy to win in such a clear manner, so we should enjoy this win, which brings a very formative experience for the players to an end.”
Thanks to this victory, the Azzurrini have surpassed Germany (in third with twelve points), who will play tomorrow (17:00 CET) against Czechia in Teplice and on Monday (15:30 CET PM) against Portugal in Potsdam.
