Twenty-two called up for the friendly double-header against Spain

After yesterday's double match between the U19s and U18s teams of Italy and Spain (1-0 defeat for Bollini's U19 in Las Rozas and 0-0 in Coverciano for Franceschini's U18), it will be the Italy U17s' turn to face the Spanairds in the two friendly matches scheduled in Coverciano on Tuesday 21 (14:30 CET, live on Vivo Azzurro TV) and Thursday 23 January (11:00 CET). Coach Massimiliano Favo has called up 22 players from the 2008 age group, who will gather on Sunday, January 19 at the Centro Tecnico Federale to take part in the first training session the following day: first call-up with the Under-17s for Matteo Pittarella, Jean Mambuku, Adriano Puccio and Francesco Bellone.

Italy and Spain will face each other again four months after the ‘City of Trieste’ Tournament, won by La Roja partly in virtue of their 2-0 victory in the direct clash played at the ‘Nereo Rocco’. For the Under-17s, reigning European champions, the two matches with Spain will represent a precious test two months before the second phase of the Euros qualifications: Italy will be engaged from March 19 to 25 in Croatia, where they will play against the home national team and their peers from Ukraine and Slovakia. The winners of the seven groups will join host country Albania in the final phase scheduled from 19 May to 1 June.
