Monday, June 3, 2024
On the fourth day of training camp in Coverciano, the National Team continues its preparation for UEFA EURO 2024. Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini were both expected to join the group today, but only the Atalanta forward will join his teammates at the Federal Technical Center. The Atalanta defender will have to miss the European Championship due to an injury sustained in the final minutes of their league match against Fiorentina. Diagnostic tests performed last night revealed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
At lunchtime, Federico Gatti will join Scamacca in arriving at Coverciano. Last Friday, following Francesco Acerbi's withdrawal, the Juventus defender was put on stand-by by Coach Luciano Spalletti. Gatti made himself available and began working at his club's facilities.
THE FANTASTIC 5. Called up on 30 April by Coach Luciano Spalletti, after receiving an invitation from FIGC in recent days, the 'Fantastic 5' number 10s (Antognoni, Baggio, Del Piero, Rivera, and Totti) will spend today at Coverciano with the Azzurri. The 'Fantastic 5' will have lunch with the team and staff and then, in the afternoon, they will wear special jerseys and join the group on the field during the training session.
