European champions, again. The Under 17 national team's triumph yesterday in Limassol (a historic first at this age level) in fact repeats that achieved last year by the Under 19 team, who in Malta (twenty years after their last success, in 2003 in Liechtenstein), won – also in the final against Portugal – the 2023 European Championship.
It is a consistent run of results that are no accident, also seen by a runners-up position at the Under 20 World Cup (in Argentina in 2023, the Italian national team were defeated in the final by Uruguay) and which gives further value to the work carried out by all the staff led by Maurizio Viscidi, coordinator of the men's youth national teams.
“Yesterday's victory for the Under 17s is a great success for Club Italia and the result of a combination of many factors: the quality of the scouting area, the high number of matches taken into consideration, the continuity of the work of the technical and organisational areas. And I'm pleased to add that, in yesterday's final against Portugal, our boys offered a high-level performance, showing a modern and proactive game that gives us hope for the future," underlined Viscidi after the victory over Portugal in the final.
