The national team's path to EURO 2024 will start in Naples. In fact, the 'Diego Armando Maradona' stadium will host the first qualifying match against England on Thursday 23rd March (20:45 CET), the last national team that the Azzurri faced at home, on 23rd September in Milan, when Giacomo Raspadori's goal gave Italy the victory (1-0) in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League.
The national team will return to play in Naples almost 10 years after their 2014 World Cup qualifying encounter with Armenia on 15 October 2013, a match that ended 2-2 with goals from Alessandro Florenzi and Mario Balotelli. For Italy it will be their 26th match in the capital of Campania, where they have recorded 13 wins, eight draws and four defeats. And Naples is also one of the cities involved in Italy's bid to host the European Championship finals in 2032. Italy and England have played 30 matches against each other (11 Azzurri wins, 11 draws and 8 defeats), including, of course, the EURO 2020 final.
