The fourth week of preparations ahead of Euro 2022 has ended well for the Women’s squad with a friendly game win against Castel di Sangro’s boys youth team. The tournament – put back a year in order to not clash with the Men’s Euros and Olympic Games, and receive more visibility – will get underway at Old Trafford, in Manchester, on Wednesday 6 July, as the hosts England face Austria.
With eleven days still to go before the opening ceremony at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, as dubbed by Sir Bobby Charlton, and the Red Devils’ home since 1910, the 27 Azzurre present in Abruzzo already have their minds across the English Channel, as they hope to find themselves in the squad list set to be announced in the next 24 hours. Milena Bertolini will reveal the 23 players selected to represent the country at the tournament tomorrow, before welcoming in the last stages of preparation. A final friendly game against Spain on Friday 1 July will end the camp, and then departure for England will proceed (for information about Spain tickets click here). The wait is nearly over, Italy’s European adventure is ready to take flight.
