The 'Enzo Bearzot' stadium in Coverciano will be the setting for the first outing of the Women's National Team after qualifying for the European Championships next year in England. On Tuesday 13 April, at 16:00 CET (live on Rai Sport + HD), in the renovated facility of the Federation’s Technical Centre, the Azzurre will play a friendly match against Iceland who, like Italy, have already sealed qualification for EURO 2022.
Thanks to the federal investments and the renovations that have affected all infrastructures in recent years, starting with those related to sports, Coverciano is now ready to host - in addition to hosting rallies, friendlies and youth tournaments - an official match of Milena Bertolini’s team who, after an excellent run in qualifying, will resume preparation for the continental competition at the 'Enzo Bearzot' stadium.
Italy and Iceland, who occupy the 13th and 16th positions in the FIFA rankings respectively, have met five times so far and the head-to-head record shows two wins for the Azzurre (most recently in 2007 in the Algarve International Tournament), two draws and one win for the Icelanders in the 2003 World Cup qualifiers.
The friendly match will be preceded by a training match between the two national teams, which will be held - again at Coverciano - on Saturday 10 April at 16:00 CET. Tomorrow Coach Bertolini will announce the list of players who will be part of next week’s squad.
