The Azzurrini to face Portugal in the quarter-finals of the European Championship

Portugal will be Italy’s opponents at the quarter-final stage of the European Under-21 Championship. Thanks to their 3-0 win over Switzerland, the Portuguese finished on maximum points in Group D, with Croatia also progressing to the last eight on goal difference.
Paolo Nicolato’s Azzurrini, who secured their spot in the knockout stages following a 4-0 win over Slovenia yesterday, will face Portugal on 31 May in Ljubljana. The two teams have met 17 times, with Italy having recorded nine wins and lost on four occasions. Four draws complete the picture.
