The National Under-17 team's progress towards the final phase of the European Championships, scheduled from Wednesday 17 May to Friday 2 June in Hungary, continues.
The 27 players called up by coach Bernardo Corradi, 24 born in 2006 and three in 2007 (Matteo Cocchi from Inter, Mattia Liberali from Milan and Giorgio Vezzosi from Sassuolo), gathered on the afternoon of Tuesday 9 at Coverciano, where they have had seven training sessions so far and tomorrow, Sunday 14, at 11:30 CEST they will face the Parma team in a friendly match on pitch 2, named after Enzo Bearzot (access allowed only to the employees of the clubs and called-up players), at the end of which, on the same day, the list of the 20 players called up for the final phase of the European Championships will be announced. On Saturday, the midfielders Leonardo Mendicino and Lorenzo Riccio, both from Atalanta, previously engaged with the first team of their club, made it to the Centro Tecnico Federale.
Italy, placed in Group B, will make their debut on Thursday 18 May at 20:00 CEST against Spain at the BSC Stadium in Budaörs before facing Serbia at the Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium in Budapest on Sunday 21 at 20:00 and, finally, Slovenia at the Telki Training Centre in Telki on Wednesday 24 at 17:00. The quarter-finals are scheduled for Saturday 27, the semi-finals and the World Cup play-off on Tuesday 30 while the final will be staged on Friday 2 June.
