After their first-ever match against the DFB-All-Stars on 7 October in Fürth, one which finished 3-3 following a spectacular affair involving champions from Italy’s ’82, ’90 and 2006 sides, the Azzurri Legends are ready to take to the pitch again. On Sunday 31 May, a friendly against the Rossoblù Legends will take place at the Sardegna Arena as part of Cagliari’s centenary celebrations.
It’ll be a week where the Azzurri take centre stage in the city of Cagliari: on Friday 29 May, the Sardegna Arena will play host to the friendly between Italy and San Marino. This will be the Azzurri’s penultimate test before Roberto Mancini’s men begin their European Championship campaign.
Marcello Lippi will be in the dugout for the Azzurri Legends against the Rossoblù Legends, who will have the likes of Daniele Conti, Andrea Cossu and Alessandro Agostini in their ranks. The former Head Coach will be reunited with some of the former stars he coached to victory in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, starting from captain Fabio Cannavaro.
Tickets for the match will go on sale from Thursday 20 February and will be available to purchase on Cagliari’s website (www.cagliaricalcio.com), at the ‘Cagliari 1920 Store’ on Piazza l’Unione Sarda and from authorised retailers.
