The Azzurre's year will end on 2 December with match against Germany: Bochum to host the 30th clash between the two teams

The Azzurre's 2024 campaign will come to an end on Monday, 2 December at 20:30 CET at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Bochum, against hosts Germany. After the home friendlies on 25 and 29 October against Malta and Spain, Italy will therefore play the no.4 seed in the FIFA Ranking away.

This will be the thirtieth confrontation between the two teams: the precedents favour the Germans, who have won sixteen times, winning the nine most recent matches (the last was in 2018). The Azzurre have won on five occasions, and there have been eight draws, including the 0-0 in 1992, which saw Italy women's play for the first and only time at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Also worth remembering is the match that was never played in 2020: the two teams were set to face each other in the final of the Algarve Cup, but Italy was forced to leave Portugal due to the outbreak of the pandemic. On that day, the German footballers wrote a beautiful page in the history of sport, refusing a victory by forfeit and sharing the trophy with their Italian counterparts.
