"We have our history and being reigning champions we are obliged to go to the European Championships and be Italy.” These were National Team Head Coach, Luciano Spalletti’s comments in an interview with TG Poste. Spalletti, interviewed by journalist Federica De Sanctis in the Poste studios, saw lots of messages recorded by Azzurri fans in post offices and in turn, signed his own card. ‘Christmas, like football, is the heart of the world,’ wrote Spalletti, ‘and we hope that it will fill people with happiness in the same way.” 

They were always going to discuss current issues, including the National Team’s ambitions for the upcoming European Championships in Germany. “There’s no such thing as an easy group in football,” said Spalletti. “And if we look at it from the point of view of our opponents, being caught with Italy in the fourth pot would not be easy to accept. There is always this sense of belonging with the National Team, this ability to recognise that the National Team shirt is different. There has been total participation from sportspeople at our games as far as we’ve seen.”

An opinion from the coach on the adventure of the Poste Italiane National Team, coach by former Azzurro Angelo Di Livio: “I’m going to go and watch a training session because I am convinced there will be something to learn from there. Since they don’t have any champions, they’ve been good at making themselves a team: it’s perfect to have this synthesis of being a group and being together, making interpersonal football.”
