His office is at Coverciano, and it was here where he studied to become a Head Coach, passing the Master UEFA Pro licence with full marks, and where he prepares for his international commitments leading the Azzurri towards Euro 2024. Italy Head Coach Luciano Spalletti returned to the Federal Technical Centre (FTC) today to meet staff from the Men's National Youth Sector, and referees from Serie A and Serie B, alongside National Coordinator Maurizio Viscidi.
“I'm happy to get this chance to share and discuss things: out passion for football unites us all," said the Head Coach in the auditorium at Coverciano, addressing the referees present, who are at a training camp at the FTC along with CAN manager, Gianluca Rocchi, and AIA vice-president, Alberto Zaroli.
Then, the Head Coach delivered a lesson in the main lecture hall at the FTC. Listening on with great care and attention were the Men's National Youth Sector coaches, together with their staff. “What makes the difference is taking responsibility," underlined Spalletti, continuing with, "and it is in the most difficult moments when you understand what you are made of. Football is a physical game, a technical one and also formed by relationships. And when a strong rapport is created, it is that that brings out the best in the physical and technical aspects."
The meeting for the Azzurrini staff – the second one this season and the first since Luciano Spalletti took over the role of First Team Head Coach - started off in the morning with a lesson done by National Coordinator Maurizio Viscidi: “These meetings are precious because they allow us, every time there is a FIFA date, to analyse the performances of our players and squads," said Viscidi. "On this occasion, it has been further enhanced by the involvement of Spalletti. The connection with the First Team is crucial because in the end we are all working with the aim of producing players and to have style of football that is aligned and has a sense of continuity."
