Italy Head Coach, Luciano Spalletti was in attendance at the Gazzetta Sports Awards, the award ceremony organised by La Gazzetta dello Sport to celebrate Italian sporting excellence. This 9th edition was held on board the MSC Fantasia, moored in the Gulf of Naples.

Geppi Cucciari hosted the event alongside Gli Autogoal, present were the sporting figures who made 2023 thrilling: Gianmarco Tamberi (Man of the Year), Sofia Raffaeli (Woman of the Year), Luciano Spalletti (Coach of the Year), Napoli were represented by president Aurelio De Laurentiis and captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Squad of the Year). Ambra Sabatini (Paralympic Athlete), the Italian National Tennis team were represented by the president of the FITP, Angelo Binaghi, and Head Coach Filippo Volandri (Team Exploit of the Year).

Absent were award winners Francesco Bagnaia (Individual Exploit of the Year) and Lautaro Martinez (Performance of the Year) whose prizes were collected by Ducati Sporting Director, Paolo Ciabatti, and Inter CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, respectively. Special Legends awards were also given to Fabio Cannavaro and Massimiliano Rosolino.

The event will be broadcast on 16 December at 23:15 CET on La7, on 21 December at 23:00 CET on La7d, and will be available to stream on the Gazzetta website and La Gazzetta dello Sport Facebook page from 16 December.
