European qualifiers. The journey resumes on 10 April at the Stadio Friuli in Udine

On Friday 10 April (at 17:30 CET, live on Rai2) the Stadio Friuli will host the Women’s European Championship qualifier between Italy and Israel. Milena Bertolini’s National Team will resume their European journey that day, after a break for the Algarve Cup from 4 to 11 March.

Therefore, the city of Udine will once again provide the stage for another National Team match. After having hosted four matches in the U21 European Championship last year, three in the knockout round and the final on 30 June, and after having celebrated Roberto Mancini’s National Team 2-0 win against Finalnd at the Stadio Friuli on 23 March 2019 in a European Championship qualifier, Udine is once again preparing for a meeting that the public will no doubt respond to with the same warmth and enthusiasm as on past occasions.

In complete control of Group B, after six wins in a row against Israel, Georgia, Malta (with the latter two having played Italy twice now) and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Azzurre will return to the Friulan city 38 years after the previous occasion on 4 November 1972 when Italy beat Spain 3-0 in a friendly. There has only been one previous game between Italy and Israel: in the first set of European qualifying fixtures last year on 29 August in Tel Aviv, when Bertolini’s team won 3-2.

After the match against Israel, the women’s National Team will leave for Zenica where, on 14 April at 16:00 CET (on Rai2), they will play Bosnia and Herzegovina, who they have already beaten 2-0 in the first set of fixtures. This match is also part of qualifying for the European Championship which will take place in England in 2021.
