The Azzurrini started their journey to the U17 World Cup in Brazil with a win. The friendly today in Sezana between Italy U17s and their Slovenian counterparts ended 3-1 to Carmine Nunziata’s side.
Italy raced out of the blocks and found themselves 1-0 up after just seven minutes, thanks to Bologna midfielder Matias Rocchi’s low drive. Italy’s second goal came a short while later (15’), with Inter defender Lorenzo Moretti firing home first time after the ball came off the Slovenian goalkeeper. Udinese attacker Martin Palumbo grabbed the third goal in the 42nd minute, finishing to the goalkeeper’s right with his left foot.
The Azzurrini head coach used the second half to explore different options ahead of the World Cup, making ten personnel changes. Italy saw out the game in an effective manner, conceding just a single goal in the 82nd minute. After a period of play on the edge of the Italian penalty box, Ostojic found a way past goalkeeper Molla.
The Azzurrini will continue their preparations in Cormons, before taking on Slovenia in a second friendly on 8 August (19:00 CEST) in Gradisca.
