Our Euros adventure gets underway: Di Biagio announces his 23-man Azzurrini squad

Head Coach of the Under-21 National Team Luigi Di Biagio has today confirmed his 23-man squad for the upcoming European Championship – that will this summer be taking part in Italy for the first time. Milan’s Davide Calabria has not been selected due to an injury picked up in the Coppa Italia last month.

After a practice match against the Under-19s this morning, the Azzurrini will now continue their preparations tomorrow and Saturday morning at Formello. Following the first phase of preparations, the squad will then take part in an additional training camp in Bologna as of Monday. This will also be where the squad is based throughout the European Championship, specifically at Bologna FC’s Niccolò Galli training centre in Casteldebole.

Located in Group A, Italy will kick off on Sunday 16 June at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna before facing Poland (Wednesday 19 June, 21:00 CEST in Bologna) and finally Belgium (Saturday 22 June at 21:00 CEST in Reggio Emilia).
