The Azzurrini complete their first training session in Brasilia with the start of the tournament fast-approaching
Having landed in the Brazilian capital yesterday afternoon, the team started work this morning with five days until their first fixture against the Solomon IslandsTuesday, October 22, 2019
The Azzurrini train for the first time in Brazil. Having arrived in the capital yesterday afternoon, Carmine Nunziata’s boys completed their first session in Brasilia, the city in which their World Cup adventure will begin on 28 October against the Solomon Islands.
After touching down yesterday, the Italian side began adapting to the new time zone, which is five hours ahead of Italy, as well as to the humid climate, with a light training session five days before their first match in the tournament. There are 21 players in Coach Nunziata’s squad, all born in 2002 with the exception of Samuele Giovane from Orobia and Inter forward ‘Willi’ Gnonto, both born in 2003.
Italy find themselves in Group F along with the Solomon Islands, Paraguay and Mexico, and will play all of their group games at the Estadio Bezerrao in Gama in Brasilia, just a few kilometres from the Azzurri headquarters. Their first match comes on 28 October against the Solomon Islands with kick-off at 21:00 CEST, followed by the match against Mexico on Thursday 31 October (at midnight in CEST) and finally Paraguay on Sunday 3 November (also at midnight in CEST). After these three of these games have been played, the top two from all six groups will progress to the round of 16 along with the best four third-placed teams (https://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/matches/). Should Italy progress, their next fixtures will be in a Cariacica in the district of Vitoria, roughly 1,200 kilometres from their current location.
Fans will be able to watch all the games live on Rai Sport or Sky Italia.
