Nunziata names 26-man squad for the Maurice Revello Tournament
Ukraine, Japan, Indonesia (taking the place of Egypt) and Panama will all face the Azzurrini in Group B: the standings at the end of the group stage will decide who goes through to the final on Friday 14 or Sunday 16 JuneThursday, May 30, 2024
Italy U21s will close out the season by taking part in the 50th edition of the Maurice Revello Tournament, 13 years since their last participation. The competition will take place from Monday 2 to Sunday 16 June in the south of France, with 10 sides divided into two groups of 5. Before being back in U21 EURO 2025 qualifying action in September, Italy will face Ukraine, Indonesia (taking the place of Egypt), Japan and Panama in Group B of the tournament.
Carmine Nunziata’s side will make their debut against Japan on Tuesday 4 June at 15:00 CEST in Vitrolles. Sides in the other group are Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, France, Mexico and South Korea. The top two teams of each group at the end of the group stage will battle it out in the final for first and second place.
Nunziata has called up 26 players for the Maurice Revello Tournament who will gather on the evening of Sunday 2 June at a hotel in Fiumicino, Rome: on the squad list are several players who have got their first U21 call-up. Defenders Bertola, Bonfanti, Fontanarosa, Pieragnolo, and Veroli. Midfielders Faticanti, Pisilli and Zuccon. Forwards Cerri, Fini, Kouda and Raimondo. The departure for Marseille is scheduled for 3 June with Nunziata appearing in a press conference at 14:30 CEST.
