Italy’s first training session of the international window took place today at Coverciano as the Azzurri prepared for Wednesday’s friendly against Estonia at Florence’s Stadio Artemio Franchi and two Nations League fixtures against Poland and Bosnia.
19 players took part in the afternoon’s session, which was led by Alberico Evani. Evani will also lead the team on Wednesday night after head coach Roberto Mancini was placed into self-isolation due to a positive COVID-19 test. Bastoni, Belotti, Bernardeschi, Calabria, Cragno, Di Lorenzo, El Shaarawy, Emerson, Gagliardini, Grifo, Lasagna, Orsolini, Pellegri, Luca Pellegrini, Pessina, Sirigu, Soriano, Tonali and Zaccagni all trained at the Federal Technical Centre. A further eleven players are due to arrive at Covderciano tomorrow: Berardi, Bonucci, Chiesa, Donnarumma, Ferrari, Florenzi, Insigne, Jorginho, Kean, Locatelli and Meret.
Criscito and Caputo were forced to withdraw from the squad: the Genoa defender has left the camp, while the Sassuolo striker was unable to join the team. Ten players remain in self-isolation: Acerbi, Barella, Biraghi, Castrovilli, Cristante, D’Ambrosio, Immobile, Mancini, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Spinazzola.
