After the triumph in Malta on 16 July, The Under-19 European champions kick off the new season with a friendly against Albania at Coverciano on Wednesday 9 August at 17:30 CEST (live on figc.it). This group will now see the class of 2005 represent the National side, with Bernardo Corradi now at the helm after being 'promoted' from the Under 17s to replace Alberto Bollini, who led the Azzurrini to their first European trophy win in 20 years, and who will become part of Roberto Mancini's staff with the Men's senior team.
The game with Albania will be Italy Youth Sector's first game of the new season, who get back to action following a positive 2022/23 with the Under-19 Euros victory and a runners-up spot at the Under 20 World Cup in Argentina. The Azzurrini will meet up tomorrow, Saturday 5 August, and train on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, before the game on Wednesday.
The first official fixture for the Under 19s will be the first phase Euro qualifying, scheduled for November in Sweden, with Italy placed into a group with Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The finals will take place in Northern Ireland in the summer of 2024.
