The National Under 21 Team begin their season with new Coach Paolo Nicolato, appointed during the summer by the FIGC to lead the Azzurrini after his excellent results achieved with the Under 19 and the Under 20 sides, who were European runners-up in 2018 and finished in fourth place at the World Cup last June in Poland respectively.

The new Coach will announce his squad on Friday 30 August for the friendly match against Moldova. This game is scheduled for Friday 6 September (18:30 CEST) at the 'Angelo Massimino' Stadium in Catania and will be his first match in charge of the Under 21s. The European qualifier against Luxembourg on Tuesday 10 September (18:30 CEST), will be his competitive debut as Coach, and will be played in Castel di Sangro.

The team will meet late in the evening on Sunday 1 September in Fiumicino and will leave for Catania the following morning.
