National team coach Roberto Mancini has summoned a further 8 players, who will arrive at the Federal Technical Centre at Coverciano tomorrow, to compliment the list of players that was finalised last Monday. Six of them earnt their call-ups following the training sessions that were put on for players of national interest, which took place from Tuesday to Thursday: they are the defender Federico Gatti (Frosinone), the midfielders Salvatore Esposito (SPAL) and Samuele Ricci (Torino), forwards Matteo Cancellieri (Verona), Wilfried Gnonto (Zurich), Alessio Zerbin (Frosinone). Along with them, defender Giorgio Scalvini (Atalanta) and midfielder Tommaso Pobega (Torino) have also been called up.
The group of 47 Azzurri will reach the FTC tomorrow, where they will stay until May 31, when they depart for London where Italy will play Argentina in their final on June 1 (Wembley, 20:45 CEST). Prior to 30 May, the coach will issue the list of players called up for this, the first of 5 matches scheduled in this international break, but also a list of players who will meet in Coverciano from 2 June with an eye on the beginning of the UEFA Nations League 2022/23.
