Monza and the Picco in La Spezia. These will be the grounds to host the first two games of the Azzurre’s journey in the second edition of the UEFA Women's Nations League. Soncin's side will start with the challenge against Wales scheduled for Friday 21 February in the Brianza city of Monza, whilst on Tuesday 25 February, three months after hosting the U21s, La Spezia is ready to paint itself Azzurro for the 90 minutes against Denmark.
Italy will be back in Monza almost 20 years after the 3-1 win over Ukraine in a 2007 World Cup qualifier decided by goals from Panico, Zorri and Marsico. There have been two previous matches at the Picco where Roma won their first title of 2025 last Monday by beating Fiorentina 3-1: there was a win over Georgia in 2015 in a 2017 Euros qualifier - it ended 6-1 with Girelli bagging a brace and goals from Cernoia, Manieri and Giugliano, who a few days ago in the renovated La Spezia stadium, lifted her first trophy as captain of the Giallorosse. In 2017, there was another big victory over Moldova who we beat 5-0 in a 2019 World Cup qualifier thanks to goals from Bargamaschi, Bonansea, Sabatino and another two from Girelli.
