Italy move up to 13th place in the FIFA rankings

A month and a half after the magical night at the Franchi which secured a spot at England’s Euro 2022 for the women’s national side, the Azzurre are ready to play again and commence their long journey towards next summer's tournament. Tuesday 13 April at 16:00 CEST, at the ‘Enzo Bearzot’ stadium, one of the Federal Technical Centre’s four pitches.
After the clear victory against Israel and the celebrations for having qualified, Italy are preparing to start a new chapter in their history. In the next few months, the Azzurri gaze will be cast on various friendlies – two other test matches have been scheduled for June – and also on the first challenges of the qualifiers round for the 2023 World Cup, which will take place in September. The first clash, however, will be against Iceland who, just like Milena Bertolini’s side, have also qualified for the Euros after overcoming the challenges posed to them in their group, coming second behind Sweden and thus going on to take part in the competition for the fourth consecutive time.
For the match on 13 April, which will take place after a training match between the two sides on Saturday 10 April, 16:00 CEST (also at Coverciano), the coach has decided to select 33 footballers, who will get together on Easter Monday to begin training the following day. For the defender Orsi, of Sassuolo, as well as midfielders Bellucci and Cinotti, both of Empoli, and Inter’s Pandini, this is their first international call-up, whilst Guagni, who has still not recovered from her muscular injury on her right leg, will be replaced by Zanoli, who will be making her second consecutive appearance in the senior side. After missing the last match due to injury, Galli will be back with the side, and in attack, we have yet again Bonfantini and Marinelli, stars of a great season for Roma and Inter, respectively.
Note for the newsroom – The accreditation operations for the game at the Enzo Bearzot stadium in Coverciano will be open from today until Saturday 10 April (12:00 CEST), exclusively via the online electronic FIGC system, www.accreditations.figc.it.
