A narrow victory for the National Under 16 team who, after the 3-1 win from two days ago, won 1-0 against Hungary in Telki thanks to the goal scored by Andrea Orlandi (Empoli) in the 16th minute. "It was a good match - says Italian coach Daniele Zoratto -. We had many chances and we did not concede much to our opponents. I am satisfied because we were able to recover some guys and, in addition, we also managed to win both games'.
The match. With the exception of Diego Pisani (Fiorentina), Zoratto changed ten of the side that played in the 3-1 win. After a decent start from the Hungarians, who came close with a header by Barkóczi, the Azzurrini took the lead in the 16th minute thanks to Orlandi, who was first to react when the opponent's full-back, Kocsis, blocked Gianluca Maggiore's (Atalanta) left-footed shot. Four minutes later, Hungary nearly got back into the game through Szekér, who sent a header wide, before, in the 31st minute, Stefano Maiorana (Fiorentina), well found by Pisani, failed to double the lead when his right-footed shot was blocked by Kocsis from close range.
In the second half, after a weak free-kick by Kugyela in the 55th minute, the Azzurrini again almost doubled their lead through Francesco Camarda (Milan) and through Elia Plicco (Parma). Before the final whistle in the 87th minute, there was room for one last attempt from distance from Hungary but Szlovák's right-footer did not trouble the Azzurri keeper. Full time, 1-0 to Italy.
