Italy, second day of training at Forte Village. Mancini:

Second day of work at Forte Village in Santa Margherita di Pula (Cagliari) for the national team, who, in a pre-retreat open to their families, continue preparing for the Nations League Finals scheduled in the Netherlands. The Azzurri trained in the morning and will do the same on Thursday, before Friday morning's practice match against Cagliari's Primavera team. Head coach Roberto Mancini took stock of the team's condition and the difficulties of having to present the list of 23 - made official on Tuesday - well in advance of the match scheduled for Thursday 15 in Enschede against Spain.

"Being at the final stage for us is a great achievement" the words of Mancini. "Let's not forget that in our Nations League group there were England, Germany and Hungary: both we and the other three teams will want to win, so it won't be easy. We had to make choices: someone was left out even though everyone would have deserved to be in the 23. The rules forced us to give the list, not even knowing how the Inter players involved in the Champions League final will come in".

The last time the national team trained at Forte Village, before the European Championships two years ago that were then won at Wembley, Gianluca Vialli was also part of the staff, to whom pitch number 3 of the CONI 'Giulio Onesti' Olympic Preparation Centre in Rome was dedicated. 'Remembering Luca is a great emotion, remembering those moments also. Now we are focused on this Nations League commitment: let's see if Sunday the 23 players will all be confirmed or there will be some unavailabilities. Then a tough match awaits us because Spain is a very difficult opponent."

To finish up, he shared his thoughts on the three Italian teams involved in the European cup finals: "Italian football has improved in recent years," Mancini admitted. "We are not what we were 20 years ago, when the best in the world played in our league, but to have reached three finals is a very positive thing, as is the fact that there are so many Italian players".
