Italy are now ninth in the FIFA Rankings, Argentina leaders followed by France and Spain

After the draw against Belgium and the win over Israel in Nations League, the National side have risen in the FIFA Rankings, moving up to 9th place with 1729.4 points. Argentina still lead (1883.5 points), but their lead over France (1859.85) and Spain (1844.33 points) has shortened. England (4th), Brazil (5th) and Belgium (6th) all maintain their places, whilst Portugal have also risen in the rankings taking 7th spot from The Netherlands. Colombia are in 10th spot, ahead of Germany (11th, two places up). 

175 international matches have been played in October, 79 in Nations League, 47 in African Cup of Nations, 32 2026 World Cup Qualifiers and 17 friendlies. Some teams have risen in the rankings, such as Algeria (37th, +4 places), Perù (38th, +5 places), Greece (42nd, +6 places) and Cameroon (49th, +4 places). Other African teams have made significant progress, including, Equatorial Guinea (88th, +6 places), Zimbabwe (117th, +7 places), Gambia (128th, +7 places) and Botswana (140th, +7 places). The next world rankings will be published on Thursday 28 November.
