Italy finish top of Group B to qualify for the quarter-finals of UEFA eEuro 2020
Wins over Denmark (5-1) and Serbia (6-5) secure the TIMVISION PES eNazionale’s spot in the last eight. All will be decided tomorrowSaturday, May 23, 2020
The TIMVISION PES eNazionale’s journey in UEFA eEURO 2020, the first ever virtual European Championship on Pro Evolution Soccer (PlayStation 4) and which involves 16 finalists, began in the best possible way today. After beating Denmark in their opening match, the Azzurri triumphed 6-5 over Serbia, thus finishing Group B in first place and qualifying for the quarter-finals.
Now among the last eight, Italy will be competing for the top prize in the knockout stages. This evening, the Azzurri will learn who they’ll be playing next. The quarter-finals, just like the semis, will be the best of three matches, while the final will be the best of five. The tournament will conclude on Sunday.
Another exciting day is therefore in store for the team composed of Rosario ‘Npk_02’ Accurso, Nicola ‘nicaldan’ Lillo, Carmine ‘Naples17x’ Liuzzi and Alfonso ‘AlonsoGrayfox’ Mereu, who were sent a good luck message by National Team Head Coach Roberto Mancini yesterday. The four Azzurri eplayers carried on their good form from the qualifying stage, through which they convincingly progressed thanks to eight wins, a draw and just a single defeat.
In Italy’s first fixture against Denmark today, Rosario ‘Npk_02’ Accurso beat ‘Goldboydk’ 2-0 thanks to goals from Immobile and Zaniolo, while Nicola ‘nicaldan’ Lillo then defeated ‘aloooowy’ 3-1 to seal the Azzurri’s triumph. Italy’s goals came through Jack Bonaventura, Immobile and Bernardeschi, meaning that Eriksen’s strike for the Danes proved to be a mere consolation.
The second showdown against Serbia, who beat Turkey 6-1 in their opener and were largely considered to be Italy’s biggest challengers in the group, was an even affair. Despite trailing ‘Kepa’ 2-0 at one stage, Alfonso ‘AlonsoGrayfox’ Mereu’ hit back thanks to Zaniolo’s hat-trick to record a crucial win. In the second match, Carmine ‘Naples17x’ Liuzzi drew 3-3 (goals from Quagliarella, Belotti and Insigne ) against ‘Roksaczv22’, thus securing Italy’s qualification to the last eight.
Tomorrow, the TIMVISION PES eNazionale’s adventure will continue from the quarter-final stage. Italy’s matches will be broadcast live on TIMVISION, the enazionale.figc.it website and the new eNazionale Twitch channel. Results and highlights will be available on the new eNazionale social media profiles: Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
