Italy defeat Sweden 4-1 at the La Manga Tournament

The Under-23 Women’s National Team won their second match at the La Manga Tournament in convincing fashion, beating their Swedish counterparts 4-1. The Azzurrine were able to react to the undeserved defeat they suffered in their opening match against Norway just 48 hours earlier.

Jacopo Leandri’s side took the lead after six minutes through Gloria Marinelli, who scored once more thirteen minutes later after Sweden had momentarily levelled the match.

In the 32nd minute, captain Martina Piemonte found the back of the net from the penalty spot before Benedetta Glionna put the game to bed just two minutes into the second half.

On Tuesday, the Azzurrine will play their final game at the La Manga Tournament on Spanish soil: a game against the United States is awaiting them (kick-off: 15:00 CEST).
