Under-17s ready to defend their European title: 20-man squad for the finals in Albania

The anticipation is building for Italy Under-17s, reigning European champions, who after a four-day training session at the Federal Training Centre in Coverciano, are looking to defend their title they won in the last edition in Cyprus. This years EUROs finals are scheduled for 19 May until 1 June in Albania.

After the final training session this morning on Pitch 1 lead by Fabio Bresci, the Azzurrini were visited by first team manager, Luciano Spalletti who wished the best of luck to all of the players and the staff. In the early afternoon, the manager Massimiliano Favo revealed his list of 20 players for the continental competition. They are all 2008-born except two 2009-born players: Pescara’s Antonio Arena and Juventus’ Destiny Onoguekhan Elimoghale. One of the list’s stand out names is the Empoli forward Thomas Campaniello, the only player to have taken part in last year’s victory in Limassol (Italy 3-0 Portugal, 5 June).

Italy, who will fly to Albania tomorrow, were put in Group B and will make their debut on Tuesday 20 May (20:30 CEST) at the Niko Dovana stadium in Durazzo, before facing England on Friday 23 May (20:30 CEST) at the Arena Egnatia in Rrogozhinë and Belgium on Monday 26 May (20:30 CEST) again in Durazzo. The semi-finals, played by the group winners and runners-up, are scheduled for Thursday 29 May, with the final on Sunday 1 June (20:30 CEST) at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana.
