A day dedicated exclusively to women's football, from medical-scientific issues to professionalism and the prospects for the development of the entire movement. These are the topics discussed today at the Talent Garden Studios in Milan with 'Women4Football', the initiative promoted by the Italian Footballers' Association and the Italian Coaches' Association with the aim of deepening the specificity of female sports activities.
The event, moderated by journalist Alessandro Alciato, concluded with the workshop 'Italian women's football in an international benchmark', a roundtable discussion attended by Federal President Gabriele Gravina (via video conference), the President of the Professional Women's Serie A Division, Federica Cappelletti, and the President of the Women's Serie B Division, Laura Tinari, as well as AIC President Umberto Calcagno and AIAC Vice President Pierluigi Vossi, who hosted the event. Also present were Laura Georges (Vice President of the FFF - French Football Federation), Kelly Simmons (Sports Consultant - Former FA Director of the Women's Professional Game and FA Director of Development), and Sara Gama (Vice President of AIC).
"The growth we have experienced in these two years of professionalism has generated an increase in audio-visual revenues of almost 70%," declared Federica Cappelletti. "These are not numbers that can make the system sustainable, also because concurrently clubs have had to deal with an increase in costs. Thanks to the FIGC, we will continue to support the clubs: a few days ago, the focus of the creation of the Women's Serie A League was shifted, and for the next three years, we will continue our work within the Federation to make the system more dynamic and sustainable."
In the first part of the conference, titled 'Women's Football: from the field to science', discussions revolved around nutrition, training, recovery, injury prevention, and psychological dynamics. An important training moment that saw Francesco Perondi (vice president of AIAC), Luca Gatteschi (National Women's A Team Doctor and medical director of Empoli Calcio), Carlo Castagna (AIAC and University of Urbino), Natale Gentile (nutritionist at FC Internazionale), Marcella Bounous (Sports Psychologist), and Giuseppe Pedeliento (University of Bergamo) take turns on stage.
