In memory of Pablito: Cappelletti and an Italian delegation visit Rossi's mural and the Football Museum exhibition

Vicenza is painted blue and is preparing to support Italy in the eagerly awaited match against Spain. After the extraordinary welcome given to Andrea Soncin's team, which will face the Furie Rosse in a friendly match in front of over 4,000 spectators at 18:15 CET at the Stadio Romeo Menti (tickets on sale on Vivaticket until kick-off), the city continues to demonstrate its bond with the Italy team and its love for those who have made footballing history in Italy. One name stands out above all: Paolo Rossi, the champion with a capital ‘C’ who launched his extraordinary career wearing the red and white shirt - which has become iconic - of Lanerossi Vicenza.

This morning, the president of the Professional Women's Serie A Division Federica Cappelletti visited the mural dedicated to her ex-husband, an imposing and beautiful work, created on the façade of the Everest tower - the tallest building in the city - by the famous Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra. ‘It is significant,’ Cappelletti emphasised, ‘that the first Italy team to pay homage to Paolo's mural is the female one. I see how much the girls cherish this shirt and their presence here today fills me with pride'. Present with her were Umberto Calcagno and Gianni Grazioli, president and general manager of the AIC, as well as Giacomo Bez, city councillor in charge of projects for the development of sporting practice, the head of the national team delegation Chiara Marchitelli, and players Rachele Baldi and Agnese Bonfantini.

After the customary photo in front of the iconic image of Pablito celebrating wearing the shirt of the 82' World Cup champions Italy, the group moved to the Palladian Basilica in the city centre for a quick visit to ‘Sfumature di Azzurro’ (Shades of Blue), the exhibition - open until 18:00 CET - that brings around the country the memorabilia, usually present at Coverciano, that tells the story of the Italian national teams. From the pennant of the match against Brazil in the Mundial to the balls of unforgettable matches of the recent past, even the shirts worn by many footballers of yesterday and today.
