An enthralling atmosphere, for the spectators at the stadium and those at home, a show that accompanies the actual sporting event and, together with it, creates an emotional impact with amplified effect: for Italy vs England, tomorrow at the 'Diego Armando Maradona' Stadium in Naples, the FIGC is launching a new approach at national team matches, in line with the evolution of sports entertainment.
In a stadium that will be packed with Azzurri fans, a spectacle never before seen in a football stadium will be staged before kick-off, created for the FIGC by the Alphaomega Group in collaboration with Canaid and light designer Pietro Toppi. An innovative technology will transform the athletics track at the 'Maradona' into a real LED carpet on which multimedia content will be shown, along with laser projections on the pitch and videos running on the big screen, accompanied by the unique and original music of the Italian national football team, 'Azzurri', composed and produced by Enrico Giaretta and Maurizio D'Aniello.
A show, to happen between 20:30 and 20:38 CET, that aims to strengthen the identity, passion and enthusiasm of the Azzurri fans, increasing the active participation of those at the stadium and also involving the supporters who will follow the National team from home, both through live images and through content that will then be shared on the Azzurri's social platforms.
Another surprise will come when the national anthems are performed: the Italian 'Il canto degli italiani' will be sung by Gigi D'Alessio, with the participation of Clementino, while the English 'God save the King' will be sung by Ellynora.
On an evening of official premieres, Oscar, the Azzurri mascot, will also make his debut pitchside before the game. The Maremmano-Abruzzese shepherd puppy, born from a graphic project by maestro Carlo Rambaldi, will be live for the first time among the fans in the Family Stand, for greetings and photos. Rambaldi's creation wears the blue jersey and will accompany the national team at home matches in all the stadiums of Italy. Its name, Oscar, is a tribute to its creator who passed away in 2012. In the notes attached to the mascot sketch, he described its image as 'a dog endowed with great courage, the ability to make decisions, typically Italian and its history is intimately linked to the millenary history of our land and its people, suitable to represent the most beautiful sport in the world, the passions it arouses and Italian spirit'. "By calling it this," says president Gravina, commenting on the choice of name, "we wanted to honour a genius of Italian creativity like Rambaldi, this mascot is his fourth Oscar, after the three he won for his mastery in the field of cinema. Just as the Azzurri jersey, an extraordinary symbol of Made in Italy excellence in the world, also deserves an Oscar'.
After the show, there will be the debut of the Azzurri's musical theme and mascot Oscar and then after the anthems are sung, live by great artists linked to Naples, the kick-off at 20.45 CET. It will be Italy vs England again, a classic of international football, the fourth meeting in less than two years, since the one in July 2021 at Wembley, the first outing of the national team in the stadium now named after Diego Armando Maradona, the chance for the Azzurri to breathe the warmth of the Neapolitan public after 10 years and an evening to be enjoyed for the full 90 minutes.
