Group photo with the European Championship trophy at Coverciano. President Gravina visits Meyer Children’s Hospital

A group photo of the Azzurri with the European Championship trophy was taken at Coverciano today. The team posed for a number of snaps alongside FIGC President Gabriele Gravina and staff from the FIGC’s offices and Technical Centre, all of whom worked tirelessly behind the scenes this summer and made a precious contribution to Italy’s memorable triumph.

The National team then received the Pegaso d'Oro from the Region of Tuscany, with President Eugenio Giani and the Chairman of the Regional Council Antonio Mazzeo presenting the award to FIGC President Gravina, Head Coach Roberto Mancini and captain Giorgio Chiellini.

This morning, President Gravina paid a visit to the youngsters being treated at the Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence. On Tuesday, the young patients met the Azzurri and watched them train at Coverciano, while they also got to see the Football Museum. Gravina, who was welcomed by hospital head Alberto Zanobini, donated balls, scarves and other National Team gadgets to the children, a show of affection from the Azzurri world.

Meanwhile, the day after their draw against Bulgaria in Florence, Mancini’s men will resume training this afternoon to prepare for their upcoming showdown against Switzerland on Sunday. It’s a very important fixture on the road to Qatar 2022, with the Azzurri looking to take a big step towards a first-place finish and thus avoid the lottery of the playoffs.
