Despite the defeat in the friendly match against England at the end of February, the Women's National Team stays put in 14th place in the FIFA Rankings, which were updated today. Compared to the last update in December, there have been significant changes in the top 5: the Lionesses, coming off victories against Austria and Italy, climb two positions to claim second place ahead of France and the United States, with the latter dropping from the podium for the first time since the introduction of the women's rankings in 2003.
Spain remains at the top as the reigning world champion and the winner of the inaugural Nations League, while Sweden continues its descent to sixth place, yielding fifth place to Germany. The Netherlands drop one spot to eighth, behind Japan, and are set to kick off their Euro 2025 qualifying campaign against Andrea Soncin's team on 5 April. Norway and Finland, the other two opponents in the Azzurre's group, maintain their positions in 16th and 27th place, respectively.
