After failing to pass the group stages at the recent European Championships, ultimately leaving the competition prematurely, the Women's team has moved down a position in the FIFA Rankings to 15th place. Retaining their place as the best ranked team in the world is the United States, with Germany, finalists at the Euros, leapfrogging Sweden to second place.
England's success at the tournament has pushed them up four places to fourth position, and to the verges of the top three. From the top ten, France have dropped two places to fifth position, as have The Netherlands who slip to sixth; Canada and Spain both move down a position to seventh and eighth, respectively. The next FIFA Ranking table to be published is on 13 October, one week before the 2023 World Cup draw, which will take place in Auckland on 22 October.
