The Azzurri have completed their final training session before today’s departure for Vienna, where, at the Ernst Happel Stadion at 20:45 CET tomorrow, they’ll take on Austria in their final fixture of 2022.
During this afternoon’s session, Nicolò Fagioli had a problem with his right foot, making him unavailable for Sunday’s game. The midfielder will return to his club in the next few hours. With Tonali and Mazzocchi having already left the group, 25 players are now left for Roberto Mancini to choose from.
In attendance at today’s session was Daniele Bennati, the coach of the Italian elite men’s national cycling team. He had his photo taken with Mancini and the whole Azzurri group at the Federal Technical Centre.
Before Austria vs. Italy, Gerhard Rodax, who passed away on Wednesday, will be remembered. Rodax made 20 appearances for his country and was part of the Austrian squad for the 1990 World Cup in Italy, scoring against the United States during the tournament.
