The Under 17 national team are ready to know their opponents in the European Championship Finals, scheduled from 20 May to 5 June in Cyprus. The draw is scheduled for Wednesday, at 18:00 CEST, in Ayia Napa (live on uefa.com and UEFA TV), with the Azzurrini achieving a place in the tournament in fine fashion in Finland in a group which, in addition to the hosts, also included the Netherlands and Belgium. Reigning European champions, Germany, were knocked out in the elite phase: the four groups of four teams will be made up of, together with Massimiliano Favo's team, Austria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, France, Wales, England, Poland, Portugal, Czechia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Ukraine.
Italy qualified for the eighth time in eight editions of the final phase played with 16 teams and, in their history, have collected three second-place finishes: in 2013, they lost in the final on penalties to Russia; in 2018 (again on penalties) and in 2019, they were beaten in both cases by the Netherlands. From the next edition, the Under-17 European Championship Finals will return to just eight participating teams.
The top two in each group will go through to the knockout stages (quarter-finals, semi-finals and final).
