European Championships, the Azzurrini land in Budapest

The National Under-17 team, after having been together since Tuesday 9 to Sunday 15 May at the Centro Tecnico Federale, left on Monday for Hungary where, from Tuesday 17 May to Friday 2 June, they will play the final phase of the European Championship.

The 20 players called up by Bernardo Corradi, 18 born in 2006 and two in 2007 (Matteo Cocchi of Inter, Mattia Liberali of AC Milan and Giorgio Vezzosi of Sassuolo), had their last training session in Coverciano this morning before leaving for Budapest in the afternoon. The Azzurrini, who will pose for official photos on Tuesday 16th, will make their debut in group B on Thursday 18th at 20:00 CEST at the BSC Stadium in Budaörs against Spain before facing Serbia on Sunday 21st at 20:00 CEST at the Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium in Budapest and Slovenia on Wednesday 24th at 17:00 CEST at the Telki Training Centre in Telki.

The quarter-finals, to which the top two teams from each of the four groups will qualify, are scheduled for Saturday 27th, the semifinals and the World Cup play-offs (which will see the two teams defeated in the quarter-finals with the best results in the group stage play-off) on Tuesday 30th, while the final is scheduled for Friday 2nd June. The four semi-finalists plus the winner of the World Cup play-off will qualify for the Under-17 World Cup scheduled from 10 November to 2 December.

By virtue of the agreement between the FIGC and the University of Rome Foro Italico, there is a school tutor accompanying the team, who supports the young players in their studies during particularly long trips.
